Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
