Poker has become world famous as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years several types on the first poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the dealer instead of each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no bluffing or different types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up just before the croupier announcing "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the bank and of course every one of the other gamblers acquire 5 cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the dealer's initial card, you must in turn make a call bet or accede. The call wager's value is on same level to your original ante, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Abandoning means that your wager goes instantaneously to the house. After the bet comes the face off. If the dealer doesn't have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, including a sum equal to the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the casino's hand. The casino pays out cash equal to your ante and controlled expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
