Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most difficult but well-loved poker variations. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant game, has expanded in popularity so rapidly.

Omaha/8 begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to every player. A round of betting ensues in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. Three cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. One more round of betting happens. After all the players have either called or folded, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers will have to make the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where many players can get baffled. Contrasted to Hold'em, where the board can make up every player's hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to utilize exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no low hand available, the high hand wins the entire pot.

It may seem difficult initially, following a couple of rounds you will be able to pick up on the base subtleties of play simply enough. Since you have people betting for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an exciting collection of betting possibilities and because you have many individuals shooting for the high, along with several battling for the low hand.
