Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with quads against Daniel's full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be players you have won't have heard of. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha hold'em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
