Online poker has become world acclaimed recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variations on the earliest poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with twenty-one than long-standing poker, in that the players wager against the dealer rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or different types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer declares "No further bets." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course all of the different players receive five cards each. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino's 1st card, you have to in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call bet's value is akin to your beginning ante, meaning that the risks will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your bet goes directly to the bank. After the bet is the face off. If the dealer doesn't have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, plus a sum equal to the original bet. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the bank's hand. The dealer pony's up cash even with your wager and fixed expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
