Web poker has become world famous as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, arcs back quite a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with 21 than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or other types of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up prior to the croupier announcing "No more wagers." At that moment, both you and the casino and of course all of the different gamblers acquire 5 cards. Once you have seen your hand and the bank's first card, you need to either make a call wager or give up. The call bet's amount is akin to your beginning ante, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your ante goes immediately to the house. After the wager is the face off. If the casino doesn't have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, with an amount in accordance with the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the bank's hand. The bank pony's up money equal to your bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
